SOUTHERN ALBERTA #1 - MANNVILLE WATERFLOOD
ELLERSLIE
Geology: The Lower Cretaceous Ellerslie (Sunburst) deposition was influenced by the pre-Cretaceous unconformity surface. Sediments were deposited within valleys on the unconformity surface. Traps can be stratigraphic where the reservoir sands pinch out laterally, or structural with the draping of sandstones over topographic highs.
Development Potential: The Company owns a 50% working interest in the Mannville EE Pool including 18 producing oil wells in Section 23-018-14W4. The pool is producing under primary depletion supported by a weak aquifer. Decline analysis indicates only 12% of the original 6.2 MMbbl in-place will be recovered. In contrast, the offsetting Mannville D Pool is on track to recover up to 42% of OOIP having been under waterflood since 1984. The production plot opposite indicates the effect on production of the initiation of waterflooding over primary depletion for an adjacent section in the Mannville D Pool. It is believed that a waterflood scheme in the Mannville EE Pool would have similar results suggesting recovering an incremental 900 Mbbl of oil. Two injection wells, sitting in structural lows, are being considered.
